A striking and timeless piece of British militaria. As worn by a member of the Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC), this individual achieve the rank of Colour Sergeant through a career in the British Army, working in the now defunct Royal Army Ordinance Corps, which supplied munitions to soldiers across all aspects of the British Forces. Nowadays the RAOC is standardised as the Royal Logistics Corps
The 1951 Pattern dismounted greatcoat is a fine piece of military surplus indeed, being made from a heavyweight all wool material it offers durability, style, warmth and resistance to the elements. It is a slightly shorter version of a full greatcoat but lengthier than a peacoat, offering added manoeuvrability. The coat is double breasted offering extra warmth and includes 2 slanted pockets as well as a turnover storm collar. Each button is engraved with the emblem of the WRAC while cuff buttons are engraved with the Ordinance Corps buttons.
This greatcoat reflects both the era’s military needs and British tailoring traditions making for a phenomenal coat for a collector or indeed for a winter wardrobe.
