Vintage surplus that comes from the very early days of British DPM camouflage development. While not the first lot, it was still produced within the first decade or so of a nearly 50 year long refining process. Smocks like this one would go onto see use in the Falklands and the Troubles in Ireland. Designed to be worn by all personnel for combat use, it has plenty of maneuverability and storage.
Made from a very thick, durable cotton material the jacket is incredibly comfortable and soft for army surplus. It's almost entirely windproof and does a great job insulating, mainly thanks to the adjustable drawstrings, cuffs and the storm flap collar and front closure. If you've got the right layers on below, you'll be delightfully warm.
For practicalities, the smock has a great selection of pockets for storage. 4 Large ones are spread across the front body in the usual safari jacket style. On the shoulder there's a small button pocket for radios or tools and then internally, there's even more! If you carry soft or small items then the fishtail pouch and its other rear pockets will serve you well.
Finally the jacket's colour is a very early colourway variant of DPM or Disruptive Pattern Material camouflage. This version, P68, has much lighter hues, with chocolates and light green colours, than the ones to follow after. DPM camouflage was tweaked for nearly 50 years, giving it quite the history.
