Retro British surplus that has been around for quite a few decades. Seeing use with several British peace keeping forces, UN operations and just general garrison duty in warmer climates and old colonies, they're a pretty nifty shirt! They're also made of a light poly-cotton blend, so they're a comfortable fit, great for warmer months!
The No.9 uniform is quite interesting for its various colour shades, despite technically being classed as the exact same uniform, due to several tweaks over the years of manufacture. From it's initial production around 1974, the colours changed drastically from light, airy hues to the darker and more iconic DPM pattern we know today.
The shirt listed here were produced around the early 1980s and use a pretty light colourway. They also use the old British size charts, with "Size 1" labelled inside rather than the NATO friendly current labels.
In 2011 the British army swapped over to a new type of standardized uniform and the No.9 tropical combat uniform was made obsolete. It's a great shirt, especially with the more distinct, characterful choice of buttons and colours than the newer kit!
We often stock the later versions, which are much closer to the known S95 DPM camouflage, with darker, saturated greens and deep browns.
