A great unusual piece of vintage militaria from a few years after the Second World War. Issued to members of the Royal Observer Corps, this particular pair belonged to a gentleman from West Wales who served in France and Germany during the war. These fantastic trousers are made of an all gabardine material, a lovely quality and durable material. The ROC, although a relatively small branch of the British Forces were absolutely essential during the War and the Cold War thereafter. As such the ROC styled their new protective suits after the 1951 Combat Suit model, using the same material and a pretty similar cut. The ROC protective suit is not to be confused with NBC protective suits. It comes with plenty of pockets, some nice 2" belt loops and a zipper and button closure fly. The history around these niche suits, which were only ever made in a few thousand, and the people who wore them is always a wonderful read.
