An absolute gem of vintage surplus from the mid 1970's. Great Britain has a reputation across the globe for some beautiful uniforms and this one is certainly no different. Taking inspiration from centuries of fashion etiquette, these trousers stick to a rather traditional evening dinner outfit, but of course set in Royal Air Force blue grey colour, with beautiful pleated fronts. The tailoring quality on these trousers is phenomenal too, up to the highest standard for RAF officers.
The trousers are made up from a soft pure wool with a partial sateen waistband. Each leg is graced by a beautiful pleat, something that always stands the test of time. Internally you'll find several buttons in place for suspenders to attach. The fly is opened via a zipper and the waistband fastened shut by a hook & eye closure as well as a button. For utility you'll find a slit pocket on either leg.
While rank cannot be told from this exact pair of trousers, it is safe to say they had a decent career in the Royal Air Force as only higher ranks are given a mess dress uniform.
