- Grade 2 / Original Condition - Naturally being an older piece there are a fair few signs of age. This includes moth holes and some wear to the inner lining. By no means beyond repair, but would be a project piece. Or a fine collector's display piece as is, especially given how it really isn't an every day piece to find!

A very interesting jacket from the late 19th to early 20th century. Apparently according to the admiralty at the time of 1748, when walking around in their full dress uniforms, the cadets studying at Royal Naval academies like Portsmouth, the cadets who were only just beginning their careers, wore gold gilt thread jackets which outshone career sailors and officers' uniforms and as such, it was put forward that those training at the academy must wear a much more muted jacket. This is such a jacket. It includes the King's crown buttons across various parts and is similar to the iconic midshipman's tunic of the time.
