Vintage and iconic military surplus that saw use for a couple decades back in the Cold War. Designed for the Bulgarian Army as heavy duty summer kit for use in the Balkans, these shirts were made from a rich all cotton material giving great durability.

These shirts have some lovely little features for being a standard issue shirt. There's many quaint touches, from the embossed buttons with a great big star to the internal drawstring for a tailored fit. You'll also find belt hooks to the side, just to keep everything in place. And being truly Slavic in design the shirt is to be worn as a pullover tunic rather than a button up shirt. All in all it is rather apparent Soviet era kit.

What's also wonderful about this shirt is that in the summer months, it actually doubled up as the Bulgarian People's Army dress jacket. There was of course a more formal suit jacket that was worn for ceremonial events, but this was the standard battle dress and in many cases, as parade dress.

They come in solid olive green colours, one a more recognizable shade and another that's more akin to the Swedish army's green hues. This is most probably due to varying quantities of dye, tweaked over the different decades they were manufactured.
