• Grade 1 - Sublime condition for a piece this old, light signs of prior use, small watermark on the inside lining but aside from this it looks to be in fantastic shape. Ready for much more wear and another 70 years of life as it is exceptional quality.

An absolutely stunning piece of winter gear from a country that certainly knows how to keep itself warm during the bitter months. Greatcoats like this one were issued to police officers across the country as winter attire, including Lapland which can reach as cold as -50C! So it is safe to say these offer excellent windproofing and thermal capabilities by 1960s standards. This beautiful greatcoat is of course styled after the M39 series of Finnish uniform, having an elegant double breasted button front for extra insulation, a back belt for a more tailored fit and a turnover storm collar for really harsh weather. These are exceptionally scarce coats to find and given the nature of the Finn's during the Cold War, the history and activities of the Police make for excellent reading. An exceptional coat without a doubt.
