Fantastic, durable vintage surplus from the communist days of Hungary. Parkas like this one were mostly issued to motorised and tank branches of the People's Army. They're a slightly shorter cut than the usual field jacket issued to the rest of the army and feature extra pockets and an all round increased mobility.
For practicality you'll find 4 pockets across the coat, 2 that can zipped up on the chest and another 2 open ones on the hips which are lined with a wonderfully soft suede like material. The jacket is closed by several buttons as well as a hook & eye closure on the elasticated waistband. In winter these jackets can be fitted with a seriously heavy duty liner that not only insulates, but elevates the whole piece as it adds a faux fur collar. A beautiful touch to the jacket is the engraved top button which features the army's coat of arms.
