Retro surplus coming out of Romania just a few years after the people's republic. This field jacket is not only incredibly warm and heavy duty, it also uses a camouflage that saw less than a decade in use, although it served Romanian troops well in it's short period. Well versed for use in the snowy Carpathian mountains!
For utility, you have a fold out drawstring hood that is revealed from a hidden neck zipper. You'll stay warm with the elasticated liner cuffs, chest windproofing flap and turn over storm collar. Practical storage features include 2 deep waist pockets and 2 side chest pockets, giving plenty of space. There's also functional shoulder epaulettes if you need to fasten any gear to your person.
It should be noted that there is a lot of variation between these coats. Every aspect of the textile industry, from buttons to fabric were decentralised and varied, so some coats may have brown buttons, some black and others metal! It is theorised the Romanian army was trying to produce a camouflage that was seasonal, changing every quarter, but there doesn't seem to be much information on this.
All of the above to say this is why they are a wonderfully unique and quirky coat. Great for retaining a piece of history and warmth.
