- Grade 2 - Good quality surplus, but has seen better days. Sadly the 2 chest buttons are missing, 2 sleeve buttons and 1 off the front. There's some small holes (about 4mm) where the cuff buttons have been removed. One collar pip is also missing. On top of this, there's also some markings, so dry cleaning would be needed. Price reflects all of this, but no major defects, just needs some attention.

Retro surplus, previously issued and used for parades, ceremonies and officer's summer dress. In the Marine Corps' own words, a jacket like this is "Sewn from the ideals America stands for", which is quite the statement. Made from 100% wool, the jacket's very sturdy and great for a dress jacket. I believe it's a barrack's ceremonial dress jacket, rather than the usual enlisted dress blues. Inside it's labelled as "Coat, Man's Wool Gabardine w/ Belt Dark Blue 2316 (MC)". To my eyes, it is black, not navy. Belt isn't included either, but the loops are!
The jacket has a few features, such as 2 chest pockets and 2 waist pockets. There's also a hook and eye collar closure for the mandarin collar. A collar which usually features 2 pips on either side, although sadly this jacket only has the 1 with it. On each side, you'll also find belt loops, which if worn properly would feature a distinctive white sabre belt. There's also a lance corporal patch on either shoulder. As for the epaulettes, the USMC decided that faux would be best and the shoulder epaulettes offer no practical use.
As for colour, the jacket is a solid black. There's beautiful red piping across all of the jacket, from the hem, to the sleeve and the collar, which contrasts beautifully. Speaking of contrast, there's stunning engraved gold colour "staybrite" buttons, which feature USMC's iconic icon of an eagle over an anchor, on every single button.
