Grades - 

• Grade 1.5 - Quality surplus, made to a very high standard. Due to the age there are a few small signs of use. There is a cracked button for internally fastening the jacket, loose thread on the service stripe, slight markings underneath the jacket (as pictured) and a small hole about 2mm on the one sleeve's rear. Price reflects this but over all it is in fantastic condition.

Absolutely stunning vintage surplus from WW2, issued through to the Korean War.  This dress jacket was made and tailored by Brook's Uniform Company, a firm responsible for outfitting thousands of sailors. Jackets like this one were worn for ceremonial and formal events and would've been the prized piece in a sailor's wardrobe.

The jacket has some beautiful patches that tell quite a story. The one sleeve shows us the previous owner made it up to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, showing their dedication to a career in the Navy and learning to be the ship's carpenter, shown on the sleeve as two crossed axes. Further down we can see a red service stripe, showing 4 years of active duty, finally a "ruptured duck" honourable discharge patch, showing quite a remarkable life in service.

For practical features the jacket has 2 front pockets and 2 internal ones for storing smaller items. The jacket is double breasted and features beautifully contrasting golden buttons, all engraved. It is a solid dark navy, bordering black jacket and is made from an all wool material with a sateen lining. A really fantastic piece for any collector.
