Wonderful vintage gear from the US Navy issued throughout the middle of the Cold War. This shirt was designed for doing general purpose tasks in warm weather environments. This particular shirt belonged to a gentleman with the surname of Coyle who had worked his way up to being a Petty Officer First Class.
The shirt itself is not uncommon in design, like most military field shirts it features 2 button chest pockets for storing smaller items, and a lightweight poly-cotton blend material to keep the user comfortable throughout the day. The collar can be worn in a cuban style laid flat or buttoned right up with a tie if desired. A lovely bit of history in this shirt and a great peace for a casual wardrobe or collection.
